It was good visiting my old home town of Cheltenham. For one night only we decided to stay at No. 131 Cheltenham. The hotel is part of The Lucky Onion Group.
LOCATION
The stylish boutique hotel is located in the middle of Cheltenham near The Promenade within the Montpellier district.
INTERIORS AND DECOR
When we first arrived it was so confusing due to the big tent that is at the forefront of the beautiful Georgian townhouse. It took us a while to work out the actual entrance through the tent, through the temporary door , up the stairs and finally into reception. Once inside the interiors and decor spoke to us. First it was the welcoming smell of Dr Vranjes Firenze diffusers. The boutique hotel decor is charming and colourful.
SERVICE
On arrival the reception staff was very helpful and explained things through, especially the parking arrangements. We have booked our stay through a third party which meant we had to pay for the parking. Once we had checked in the room it was difficult to get service in the room I had to go twice down to reception. During dinner time the service and food was ok which left me a bit disappointed but was made up by the nice ambiance even though it was not too packed. The following morning breakfast was excellent. The service at the Gin Bar after dinner was amazing and the staff had great knowledge of the gins they serve.
ROOM
Our room was at the top of the stairs and given the type of building it was no surprise there was no lift. The room was very clean. I felt we paid too much for the room we stayed in. It was disappointing to get a room that clearly needs some work. The double sink was chipped , hooks on walls needed replacing and we had the linen chair that was stained. Throughout the night the room was too hot we woke up sweating buckets. The fan provided did little to help. The bathroom did though have some nice touches like providing the luxury Acqua di Parma toiletries.
