A while back a friend of mine called me asking for a travel advice. She wanted to book her first ever holiday but wasn’t sure whether to go with city or country destination. I have been in the same position before so it took a whole conversation for her to decide where to go. If you are one of those people still deciding which destination to choose for your next holiday. I have travel to both destinations and I can confirm that they both have their own advantages and disadvantages. My tip is to try both as they can offer different aspects of travelling.
CITY DESTINATIONS City destinations tend to be busy, crowded and loud. If you like your personal space they may not be for you. Most people don’t have time for anything or anyone.I do love them for their mixture of culture, modern, sky scrappers, art and history. Your time in city destinations can resemble that of scenes you have seen in your favourite movies. Take for an instance, when in Paris sitting and sipping coffee at the corner table on the pavement of Cafe Louis Philippe where Blair and Serena met in the scenes in Gossip Girl. One could also take a stroll with a loved one along Place Dauphine, not far from Pont Neuf like Carrie did in the final episodes of Sex and the City. The list is endless. Cities are also great for all the sight seeing or visits to museums which you can end with dancing the night away at some club or cosmopolitan bar.
COUNTRY DESTINATIONS On the other hand country destinations tend to be more calmer than city destinations. They tend to favour and display true identity of the country’s culture and people. My favourite is how easy it is to mingle with the locals and taste local cuisines that have not been altered to favour tourists palates. Beaches also tend to be pristine and not overcrowded. The overall experience in the country destinations tend to be authentic.
