Every end of the year on the this day I take time and reflect on what the year have delivered for me and what plans I actually manage to execute. We all know when we have those glasses of bubble on our hands and a bit tipsy (curse of alcohol !) we make our New Year resolutions as we toast away with our loved ones and friends. A lot of those do go out the window by 3rd or 4th week of January or we simple just forget as we go on about our normal lives. That how life is and we should not be afraid to admit it. It will probably be the same with a lot of us in 2018 unless we decided to change those old habits of “forgetting” or “life just happened” scenarios. If you have started a “new tradition” see if you can stick it out and have fun with it too. Or instead of making New Year resolutions why not make the changes part of your lifestyle? My struggle is doing too much at once and as usual something always end up being done half way or not done at all. Clearly a fact I choose to ignore all the time as I believe, us women are born to multi -task. But I am slowly starting to learn that it is never a good idea to bite more than you can chew. And this is all thanks to the people I have chosen to surround myself with in all aspects of my life. They are not afraid to tell me otherwise for the sake of bettering me and I love that. Corrections, I need that ! It worked this year and I will take it forward with me.
As I am closing the last page of 2017 I feel proud and happy for what I achieved and looking forward to doing even better in the new year. It has been a very good year. A year of growth and learning. The growth came from ” the behind the scenes of my career” and the learning came from parenting ( how I sometimes wish parenting came with a manual ) A lot of parents especially mothers will agree with me on this one but because we strong and mothers always know what to do.
I just feel so grateful and thankful for the fact that 2017 brought more positive and good things than negative and bad things. And for that I can say I feel so blessed. I had a chance to travel the world during the first 6 months of 2017 and I have to admit that type of blessing doesn’t happen to every single person and for that I am truly grateful. January saw me in Thailand, February I was in New York , March I went to Paris, I even took both my kids to South Africa in April, Budapest in May and finally Bali in June. If it wasn’t for other commitments I will still be out there somewhere travelling and exploring as that’s my drug of choice and love it too. But the best for 2017 was seeing my daughter in her school uniform for the first time. I know it a cliche thing to say as all parents say it all the time and know the feeling but it really brought tears to my eyes as I dropped her for her first day. I also saw the growth in my creative side especially in my chosen field of Fashion and hoping for the same growth if not better for 2018. The cherry on top of the cake was our big move from England to Wales. The people I have crossed paths with since moving to Wales and the new friends I have made have made me so welcomed and at home I already consider myself Welsh now! And cannot wait to explore this beautiful country. Christmas came with indulging in amazing dishes , gifts and a serious binge of Quality Street chocolates ( tradition all over the U.K.) but tomorrow marks the 1st day of 2018 and could mean only one thing for me. To focus on things that matter the most, family. To work even harder in silence on things that brings growth and prosperity.
Before I forget, let me wish you all a fantastic gateway to the new year and nothing but a prosperous 2018. Celebrate in style and drink responsible. For those driving you know the law!
MY ADVICE to take to 2018 with you :
Be a good and genuine person.
Take 2018 as it comes and don’t put too much unnecessary pressure on yourself.
Be realistic with your goals and put focus on things that matter like family, friends and bettering yourself.
Learn to be patient in everything you do or aim to achieve.
Build the right foundation and in a correct manner ( cutting corners and short cuts are a waste of time, as proven so many times by those who have made it ) if you want longevity.
Do not take every unsuccessful attempt as a failure, it is only a learning curve and what brings us growth.
Life is hard and challenging on its on, so don’t let pressures of social media make it worse. Live according to your means.
In closure , remember what I said on my Facebook video post? JUST DO YOU. FOCUS ON YOU & DO NOT GIVE UP because we all have to start somewhere. Life is like a race, just like runners , some people will get to the finish line and claim the prize before you do. Your turn will come eventually.
