” WE BECOME WHAT WE WANT TO BE BY CONSISTENTLY BEING WHAT WE WANT TO BECOME EACH DAY ” – RICHARD G. SCOTT

The past few months has been about me embracing my own ambitions. It’s been about trying my best in honing my blogging skills, keeping the dreams and ambitions stoked. And every time I succeed or achieve as a result of my drive I desire to achieve more. I have learnt not to feel guilty or be embarrassed for wanting more out of this blogging platform because some of that drive comes from the need to excel as a woman, a mother, a wife but mostly a black blogger. One of my friends once asked me why I wanted to start a blog knowing very well that everyone was starting blogs these days especially to people of colour. My answer was simple that there was enough room for everyone who wanted to start a blog. Even though that is the case unfortunately I went into blogging knowing my journey will be a hard one because I am black. Just like in fashion and modelling industry, the blogging industry lacks diversity by favouring bloggers that are white, slim and from a certain background. This is not something that is likely to change anytime soon because there are so many factors that contributes to the fact. But did that stopped me from starting a blog? The answer is a simple no because I decided to embrace my ambition even though it seemed as if odds were against me. Life lesson ? Embracing your own ambition means not being afraid to do something because of the colour of your skin. Stop apologising for being black and follow your dreams where ever they may take you. Stop focusing on money and enjoy the journey.
