” TRAVEL ONLY WITH THY EQUALS OR THY BETTERS, IF THERE ARE NONE, TRAVEL ALONE”.

I have recently returned from a solo trip to Marrakech. I had no huge plans for this trip which was a surprise to myself as I plan all travel activities. This trip felt different and I was travelling solo. A lot of people asked me if I felt safe throughout the trip especially as a woman. My answer to that is yes. From the moment I arrived in Marrakech till I left I felt totally safe.

Location :

Marrakech is in Morocco , North of Africa.

Currency :

Marrakech currency is Moroccan Dirham (MAD) and is a closed currency. It is best to bring money to exchange when you arrive. Some places do accepts credit or debit cards, and there are also cash points to withdraw cash.

Language :

Arabic , Moroccan Arabic and Berber are national languages but French and English are also spoken.

Where I stayed:

For the first 3 nights I stayed at Hotel Riu Tikida Gardens All Inclusive Adults Only. And for the other 4 nights I moved to the medina area. I stayed at Riad El Maktoub.

What I did :

The first 3 days of my stay in Marrakech I spent it laying by the pool (which I so needed) On the last 4 days I managed to mingle with the locals at Jemaa EL-Fnaa square. I missed out on the visit to the Yves Saint Laurent Museum as it was closed. Bahia Palace was beautiful and so was the Majorelle Gardens. A local tour guide took me all around the markets and souks. The last 2 days I went outside Marrakech with tours to the Atlas mountains, Ouzoud Waterfalls and Agafay desert. I enjoyed this solo trip and will return to Marrakech in the future.
